A pack of 10 totally cute seed boxes with wildflower seed balls that are great for bees and butterflies. These make for fab eco-friendly gifts for anyone who loves nature, bees, gardening or beautiful wildflowers!

Seed balls work well in pots, window boxes and garden beds, and are super easy to use – so no need for gardening experience. Simply scatter on top of soil (no need to dig) and water well. 1 box will cover 1-2 pots or a small patch in a garden bed.

Each box contains 6 seed balls, and each ball contains approximately 30 seeds from a mix of cornflower, poppy, red campion, forget-me-not, musk mallow, purple loosestrife, yarrow, corn marigold and corn chamomile. This provides a mix of annual and perennial wildflowers to maximise the flowering time for pollinators.

The boxes are made of 100% recycled card and each includes a little instruction card. Each box has the same design and seed mix. Scatter anytime from early Autumn through to the end of Spring, wildflower seeds love a chilly spell!

We make the balls at our Seedball factory in London, from a mixture of UK wildflower seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder.

The outer clay protects the seeds from ants, birds and mice, and once sufficient water has permeated the clay, the seeds inside begin to germinate – helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs and snails while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout.

Wildflowers are naturally slow to grow and the balls can take 2-4 weeks to begin to sprout. Some will flower in the first year and others may not flower until the second year, but the display should keep getting better each year! The more they are initially watered, the quicker they will be to start to grow, although they will be ok to leave them to the rain to water them as well 🙂
