Wrap up and listen in!

Meteorological spring may be upon us, but it has made quite a dramatic entrance with the accompanying storms and snow! We’ve still got a few weeks until the Spring equinox on 21st March, so we’ve downloaded some of our favourite podcasts, popped the kettle on and settled in until the weather passes!

Here’s five podcasts (in no particular order) that we’ll be enjoying in the coming days. Do they feature on your list too? Is there one you would recommend that we have missed? Let us know in the comments below, or via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!

Wild Flower (Half) Hour

We’ve shouted about this one before, but it deserves it again. This podcast is presented by Isabel Hardman and is broadcast every fortnight in the winter, and every week in the summer. It’s an offshoot of the wonderful Wildflower hour on Twitter every Sunday from 8-9pm. Accessible, but also with enough depth to interest the most avid wildflower fan, this is a great resource to dip into on a regular basis.

The Sodshow

Entertaining and topical, the Sodshow is run by horticulturalist Peter Donegan from Ireland. With different guests each week from Ireland, the UK and the US, there’s something in there for everyone!

Gardener’s question time

It’s been a regular on the BBC airwaves for over 60 years, but did you know that the show is also available as a podcast? Fit it into your own schedule, on the train, in the car or curled up in an armchair for a relaxed, but insightful, hour.

Tweet of the day

Short and sweet. Who can fail to enjoy two minutes a day listening to snippets of avian appreciation. Or, you can save them up, like we sometimes do, and listen to them in one long joyful chorus!

Nature’s Voice

RSPB’s award winning monthly podcast ‘Nature’s Voice’ is one that extends far beyond the birds in topic. Packed with all sorts of pieces from global nature protection stories to political reflections this is one for the keen nature fan.
