We love May! It’s such a beautiful month for seeing wildflowers – they really do start to come into their own. And, it’s also not too late to plant wildflowers too! In fact, so many are beginning to flower, listing them all is quite a challenge.
Most flowers blooming in April will continue to bloom throughout this month, with Forget me not, Primroses, Cowslips and Bluebells continuing often till mid to late May.
Red Campion is often first to see in May, followed by Oxeye Daisy and Borage. You can also spot Bellflowers, Foxgloves, Yellow Rattle, White Campion, Ragged Robin, Cow Parsley, Meadow Cranesbill, Purple Loosestrife, Red and White clover as the month progresses.
Meanwhile Buttercups, Dandelions and Daisies are beginning to speckle our wildflower lawns.
The fireworks display of cornfield annuals also will begin in May with Poppy, Cornflower, Chamomile & Corn Marigold bringing bursts of colour to your borders, pots and hanging baskets, and they will continue all summer long.
