Join our Spring School Wildflower Revolution!

Huzzah! To celebrate Spring and make sure we make 2022 the most blooming marvellous year yet we’re giving away bags of of odd balls to schools while stocks last (see form below). All you need to do is cover postage (£6pp). You will receive a 300 ball bag of odd balls cover an area of 15-18 m. This can be used to create one wildflower area or to distribute in pots and hanging baskets across the school. They even work well in tin cans filled in soil (all you need is one seed ball per tin). Our odd balls are a mixture of all varieties – we call them odd balls as they are a little mis-shaped but still do their job wonderfully. Seed balls are super easy to use! Simply scatter on top of prepared soil or on compost in pots and keep well-watered (initially water more than you would ordinary seed to make sure the clay is damp. To take part all you need to do is fill in the form below.
Growing wildflowers helps give bees and butterflies the nectar and pollen they need to thrive, wildflowers also provide food for caterpillars and attract beneficial insects like ladybirds and lacewings. The increased insect activity in turn helps birds and mammals such as endangered hedgehog.
Seed balls contain native wildflower seeds, clay and peat-free compost which protect the seeds and aid germination, chilli powder deters pests from the young shoots giving them a head start..
Kids can have fun throwing the balls onto the soil and watch them sprout into blooms with regular watering and then become a buzzing haven for wildlife.
