We were thrilled to be part of New Scientist Live this October at London’s ExCel! For three amazing days, Seedball joined forces with the Royal Entomological Society (RES) to inspire and educate visitors about biodiversity, conservation, and how we can all play a role in supporting our precious pollinators.
What is the Royal Entomological Society?
Founded way back in 1833, the Royal Entomological Society is all about promoting the science and study of insects. From bees and butterflies to beetles and bugs, the RES works to deepen our understanding of insects and their importance to ecosystems everywhere. Insects are fundamental to pollination, pest control, soil health, and so much more, and RES aims to raise awareness about the amazing things they do (and why they need our help).
We’re over the moon to have collaborated with them recently on a special matchbox mini range, with 90p from every purchase going directly to support RES’s work. New Scientist Live: The Ultimate Science Festival
New Scientist Live is one of the world’s biggest science festivals, bringing together experts, exhibitors, and science enthusiasts of all ages. With so many exciting talks, hands-on activities, and innovative demos, it’s an inspiring space where visitors can discover new ideas and get involved in all things science and nature. This year’s event brought thousands of curious minds together, and it was fab to see people from all walks of life dive into the wonders of conservation.
Seedball Rolling Workshops – All Weekend Long!
One of our favourite parts of the weekend was hosting our popular Seedball Rolling Workshops! These hands-on sessions ran throughout the entire event, drawing in families, children, and adults who were eager to get a bit messy while creating something good for nature. Participants learned how to make their very own seedballs – each one a small bundle of clay, compost, and wildflower seeds, ready to bring new life to gardens, balconies, or any outdoor space. Seeing so many smiling faces and muddy hands was a reminder of how easy and fun it can be to make a difference in the world.
Our CEO Emily was there all three days, sharing the Seedball story and our passion for accessible conservation, and our co-founder Ana joined on Sunday to roll up her sleeves and lead even more workshops. The energy was incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came by, joined a workshop, or supported our RES range.
