Description
Four-petalled sweetly-scented flowers, in sunset-colours, from crimson to violet. Wallflowers have narrow dark-green leaves that remain throughout the year. Although a perennial, wallflower plants are often grown as a biennials, blooming from spring right through until winter. Attracts moths and night-flyers, making it great for bats. Likes full sun and well-drained soil. Height: 0.1-0.5m in 1-2 years.
Habitat
Originally native to south-eastern Europe, Erysimum cheiri has been recorded in the UK for over 500 years. Chalky ground and rocky areas.

Did you know?
Wallflower gets its name from its ability to grow on the rubble of fallen building and walls. It is thought the seeds of wallflower may have been brought to Britain unwittingly by Norman stonemasons.
